Kuk Sool Won of Clear Lake is a world class school with world class instructors. Our professional and friendly instructors will guide you each step of the way on your martial art journey. Each of our instructors have spent years refining their skills and are passoniate about helping our students follow in their footsteps. Being a black belt does not make you an instructor. Each of our instructors have been personally trained by our School Masters how to teach the art of Kuk Sool correctly, safely, and in a way that makes our students eager and excited each and every class!

Master Barry Harmon is the owner and School Master of Kuk Sool Won of Clear Lake. Master Harmon is the first non-Asian to be promoted to Master Level. Master Harmon is a licensed acupuncturist, author, and loving father of two daughters both of whom are Black Belts. Master Harmon is the Chief of the World Kuk Sool Association and is one of the leading authorities in the world on Kuk Sool Won. Master Harmon is known all over the world for his innovative teaching style, friendly demeaner and unmatched skills. He is one of only a handful of martial art masters who study and teach the ancient art of Iron Palm and Iron Body training. Master Harmon has been featured in many martial art magazines including: Tae Kwon Do Times, MA Training, and Black Belt Magazine, and has written hundreds of articles that have been published in a variety of martial art publications. Master Harmon is one of only three 9th degree black belts in the US and aside from his wife and life time training partner, Master Choon Ok Harmon, the only 9th degree that teaches all levels of students from white belts to masters. Master Choon Ok Harmon is the highest-ranking female in the World. She is the first woman to ever promote to Master Level in Kuk Sool and aside from her husband, the only 9th degree in the U.S. that teaches all levels of students. Master Choon Ok is known throughout the world for her unmatched skill and phenomenal demonstrations. She began her training in South Korean in the late 60's and has been a dedicated student of Grandmaster In Hyung Suh since. Kuk Sa Nim (Kuk Sool's founder and Grandmaster) gave her the nickname "The Iron Butterfly". She is graceful and beautiful yet powerful and unyielding.
Master Choon Ok has two daughters, Master Emerald-Harmon Aue and Jada Harmon. Both of whom teach and train at her school. Master Choon Ok's memoirs "The Iron Butterfly, Memoirs of a Martial Arts Master" is a truly inspirational book that everyone should read. Master Choon Ok has been featured in dozens of articles and has many Front Covers in martial art publications.
Master Choon Ok is in the school and on the floor nearly every day. Martial art has been her only profession and there is no one better to learn from. She is a shining example of what you can achieve when your mind is focused. Dozens of Kuk Sool Won practitioners visit the Clear Lake school each year for the opportunity to receive instruction from our School Masters. Joo Im Kwan Jang Nim Terry Heaps is a Quality Assurance-SHE Manager. She holds a Masters Degree in Oriental Medicine - 2007. Master Terry's favorite weapon: Sword, form: Baek Pal Ki Hyung, technique set: Bang Won Ki, kick: Reverse Round, hand strike: Palm, vacation spot: "What's a Vacation?". JIKJN's long term goal in training is "to overcome my limitations and to have a healthy old age." "I started Kuk Sool Won at a club in the Post Oak YMCA because I wanted to have a family activity with my son. As a single mom I wanted an activity that we both could do for a long time. I had taken other martial arts growing up (Karate, Judo) and was always interested in healthy activities, for the mental and physical challenge. I also liked the culture. I grew up traveling with my Dad's work in the petroleum industry. By the time I was 19 I had been around the world twice. I consider myself a world citizen and will be glad when we finally get around to issuing I.D.'s to that effect. I love all cultures and have found very few that do not contribute positively to our global energy. I am extremely grateful that I have met Masters Harmon and feel if I can do half of what they have accomplished I will have done good." Master Terry was recently promoted 6th Degree. Master David Aue has been a student of Master Harmon since 1993. He is the head instructor and manager of Kuk Sool Won of Clear Lake. Master Aue is well known for his motivating teaching methods and high energy classes. Master Aue is a life time martial artist and teaching Kuk Sool has been his profession since a teenager. Master Aue has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston. Master Aue is one of the youngest practitioners to be promoted to Master Level when he was only 31 years old. On the tournament circuit, Master Aue has been named Grand Champion more than a dozen times. Master Aue is married to Master Emerald Harmon Aue. Together they follow in the footsteps of Master Barry and Choon Ok Harmon as the next generation of Kuk Sool Won Masters. "I am so fortunate to have my passion be my profession. I am truly excited each day to train, teach class, and motivate others. The best part of teaching Kuk Sool watching the art have such a profound positive affect on our students. Carol PSBN's husban, Peter, is also KSN. Truly a Kuk Sool family! Carol PSBN holds a Bachelors of Finearts from Tulsa Univeristy. Her long term goal in training is a strong heart, self esteem, and a sence of coumminity. "After a career in commercial design, I got certification in Elementary education.
